SAT 3-3:45pm EDT August 14th thru September 18th 2021 IZAKAYA GROOVE online class w/SBBI"As we all get back in the groove of playing taiko together, it's a great time to (re)build skill by challenging ourselves with new rep! Izakaya Groove fits that bill, with some unexpectedly fun and challenging rhythms. The bass jiuchi is an especially good groove.Rome Hamner wrote Izakaya Groove in 2012-13, inspired by rhythms from music she loved in her youth, and it has been performed by groups in multiple states many times since. The song invokes the lively atmosphere of an Izakaya, a Japanese eating and drinking establishment where people can spend hours with friends. They tend to get kind of rowdy, and the song has its rowdy moments!Izakaya Groove is released under a Creative Commons license so you'll be welcome to perform it once you've learned it (cc-by-nc-nd). Don't miss your chance to learn this modern grooving taiko song from its composer!"~Rome Hamner & Kristin Block at South Bay Beat Institute (SBBI) in San Jose, CA. Register at sbbeat.online/groove
